Maurice Wilks 1904-1963. Joined the Rover Company in 1930 as Chief Engineer becoming Technical Director in 1946 and Managing Director in 1960. In 1962 succeeded his brother Spencer Wilks as Chairman. Together Spencer and Maurice Wilks built Rover's reputation for quality cars and came up with the concept of the 'Land Rover'.
